First Announcement :

			     Workshop on

       ``ALGEBRAIC GROUPS, QUADRATIC FORMS AND RELATED TOPICS''

		       June 30 to July 4, 2003
			 in Besancon, France


This workshop will take place during the week after the Mini-course in
Lens  (France)  organised by J.  Buresi, N.  Karpenko, P.  Mammone and
J.-P.  Tignol.

The  program  of our  workshop  will put  strong  emphasis  on  recent
advances  in the  theory of  algebraic  groups,  quadratic  forms  and
related topics, and it will be designed so as to keep the intersection
with  the  themes  of the  mini-course  in  Lens  to a  minimum  or to
complement some of these themes.

The program will consist of about 10 one-hour  invited survey lectures
on topics of strong  current  interest,  plus  about 12 to 15  shorter
lectures mainly by young researchers.

Those interested in  participating  are already invited to contact one
of the local organizers.  A second  announcement  with more details as
for the program and  registration  formalities  will be  circulated in
January 2003.

This workshop is part of the  activities of the European  Research and
Training Network  "Algebraic  K-theory,  Linear  Algebraic  Groups and
Related Structures"  (HPRN--CT--2002--00287)  and of the project INTAS
"Linear   Algebraic   Groups  and  Related   Linear  and   Homological
Structures" (INTAS 99--00817).
