How to find us

Location of the ZiF Bielefeld:

The ZiF Bielefeld is located south of the campus of Bielefeld University within a walking distance of 10 minutes from the main building (see map below).

From Düsseldorf-Airport to Bielefeld:

Düsseldorf-Airport to Bielefeld is about 1h30min by train. The train station is at the east side of the airport grounds. You can get there directly from the terminal by taking the SkyTrain.

You can buy your train ticket online but you can also buy it in the train or at the train station using a credit card. In addition, you can purchase your ticket at a counter, which usually takes you some waiting time.

From Frankfurt-Airport to Bielefeld:

Frankfurt-Airport to Bielefeld is about 3h30min by train, most likely with one change of trains. Depending on your connection, this change is in Köln (Cologne), Dortmund, Düsseldorf or Hannover.

Note that, at Frankfurt-Airport, there are two train stations. Do not use "Regionalbahnhof", which is for regional trains, but go to "Fernbahnhof" which is for long-distance trains.

In Bielefeld

Arriving at Bielefeld you have to leave the station and cross the station forecourt. Just straight ahead you will find the entrance to the underground tram station. You have to buy the ticket in advance at the ticket machine before you go to the platform. For an individual ticket you have to chose the options "Einzelticket, Preisstufe 1 Bielefeld". It currently costs 2,40€ (as of June 2015). If you are already aware of the fact that you will use public transport more often, it's worth buying a so-called "4er-Ticket" for the price of 8,20€ (as of June 2015), which entitles you to four trips.

How to reach the University:

From the train station, you take the tram No. 4 (direction "Lohmannshof"), which takes you to the University within 8 minutes.

How to reach the Uni-Apartments

From the train station, you take the tram No. 4 (direction "Lohmannshof"), which takes you to the University within 8 minutes. You find the Uni-Apartments right behind the main building of the university (see map).
