Global center stable manifold for nonlinear wave equation with potential

A talk in the 'Oberseminar Analysis' series by

Abstract: We consider the defocusing energy critical wave equation with a trapping potential in the nonradial case. For general potential, the equation can have a unique positive ground state and a number of excited steady states. In this talk, we will show that the unstable excited state will attract a global finite co-dimensional manifold of solutions in the energy space. One of the key ingredients in our proof is the channel of energy type argument which helps us to establish the one pass theorem. This is a joint work with Hao Jia, Wilhelm Schlag and Guixiang Xu.
