More information -
Hotel Mercure (Am Niederwall)
Directions:
Main station - Hotel
Mercure
- By tram: Walk out of the main station. Straight ahead you
will see a blue sign with the letter "U" on it. (This is the
entrance of the tram station.) Cross the street (via the zebra crossing)
and walk towards the sign. (The name of the corresponding street is
Herbert-Hinnendahl-Straße.) Go down the escalator and
buy a short distance ticket (purple button with a "1" on it - and make
sure that you really press the "adult button" - the price should be 1.20 EUR).
Take one of the following tram lines
- no. 1 to "Senne" (blue line)
- no. 2 to "Sieker" (green line)
- no. 3 to "Stieghorst" (yellow line)
- no. 4 to "Rathaus/Obernstraße" (red line)
whose exact railtracks will be
announced on the screen inside the tram station. You will then have
to go down (at least) another escalator to actually reach the railtrack.
Before that, you should validate your ticket in one of the red machines
to the left or right of the elevator.
Enter the tram and leave it at "Rathaus".
Just turn left, and you will immediately see the Hotel Mercure.
-
Walking to the hotel: The distance between the main station and the
Hotel Mercure is about 2 - 2.5 km. Walk out of the main station, and turn
right into "Bahnhofstraße". Cross the traffic lights and
walk down "Bahnhofstraße" (pedestrian zone) until you reach
"Jahnplatz". (This is the next
street outside the pedestrian zone, and you will see a big metal clock on the
square.) Cross the traffic lights and walk straight ahead
into "Niederwall". After a couple of metres you will see the tram station
"Rathaus" and the Hotel Mercure at your left hand side.
Directions: Hotel
Mercure - University
- Buy a tram ticket. (This time you should buy a city ticket for adults -

Enter the tram no. 4 (red line) at the tram station
"Rathaus", which should go to "Universität/Lohmannshof".
Just enter the tram, validate your ticket, and leave the tram at
the university's tram station ("Universität").
