BIREP: Representation Theory at Bielefeld

Compact Course

Tilting modules over quasi-hereditary algebras

Bielefeld/Germany, March 2 - March 6, 1998.

The course will be held at University of Bielefeld (room U2-205, starting on March 2 at 10:30 am, at all other days at 10:15 am, at all afternoons except Wednesday at 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm).

Subject and aim:

Characteristic tilting modules over quasi-hereditary algebras have been introduced by C.M.Ringel in 1991. Their indecomposable direct summands, which now are called just tilting modules, soon became an important object in representation theory of Lie algebras, algebraic groups and quantum groups.

The aim of this course, which will consist of a series of lectures given by Steffen König, is to provide a self-contained introduction into this subject, including a detailed exposition of the general results by Ringel and also a survey on and many examples of tilting modules in applications.

The course is intended to prepare its participants for the workshop on tilting modules to be held at Aarhus University from March 29 to April 5, 1998.

Everybody who is interested in the compact course is invited to register with Thomas Brüstle or Steffen König, preferably by e-mail:
