Some hints for surviving
Library
The library is located at the first floor of the main building.
Mathematics is in part V. The direct entrance for mathematics in V1 is
open Monday and Tuesday from 9.00 to 16.30 and Wednesday to Friday from
9.00 to 16.00. However, the library is simply connected, thus the
mathematics part can be accessed via any other entrance. A convenient one is
in U1, it is open every day from 8.00 a.m. to 1 a.m. (weekends only 9.00 to
22.00).
Food
There are many possibilities to get food, all accessible from the
main hall (ground level). For lunch, the mensa (between A and B)
is open from Monday to Friday 11.30 to
14.00 (Friday only to 13.30) -- buy a ticket for 'Bedienstete' or choose
from the salad buffet and pay after weighing.
The cafeteria in part B of the building is open from 8.00 to 18.00
(Friday only to 17.00) and serves all kind of small food and drinks.
The westend (between N and W, close to the swimming pool) serves lunch and
dinner and small food and drinks (9.00 to 20.00, Friday 9.00 to 19.00). All
of these places are rather inexpensive. Slightly more expensive but still
reasonably priced is the Univarza (between M and V), a Turkish restaurant.
Within walking distance from the university there are a few more restaurants.
A Chinese one (Lotussee) and a garden restaurant, Pappelkrug, are both at
Wertherstrasse (leaving the university at the backside you first go uphill,
Wertherstrasse is the big road which you reach after three minutes, then
you follow this road in the direction Werther -- i.e. opposite to the
direction center of the city).
Also at Wertherstraße, close to the restaurant Lotussee there is a
supermarket which is open until 8 p.m.
Copy shop
A copy shop with xerox machines
is located on the first floor (on the gallery
over the main hall) between V and U, the xerox cards you buy there are valid
in the library.
