Stellar subdivisions and non-crossing diagonals of a polygon [announcement]

The set of non-crossing diagonals of an n-gon is a simplicial sphere of dimension n-4. Its dual is the boundary of the associahedron. A standard reference seems to be

We plan to present some detailed generalities on stellar subdivisions and to derive the main result by induction using the two outer factors of a parenthesized expression.
