Together with Gennaro Ciampa (Milan University), I am organizing the mini-symposium Recent trends in the mathematical theory for incompressible fluids at the 10th International Congress for Applied and Industrial Mathematics 2023 taking place in Tokyo from 20-25 August 2023.

During the Spring semester 2022, I lecture the first year course Mathematik fuer Biologen und Biotechnologen. Students can find weekly updates on the moodle page / Lernraum Plus.

Our paper ‘Lake equations with an evanescent or emergent island’ in collaboration with C. Lacave and E. Miot is now available on Communications in Mathematical Sciences. Beyond its analytical motivations, our project was inspired by the recent birth of a huge underwater volcano in the Indian Ocean, off Mayotte, leading to a significant deformation of the ocean topography. The large active underwater eruptions have been recorded and are currently investigated by geophysics community, see for instance the recent article in Nature Geoscience and also news in the media like bbc or livescience.

This semester, I am teaching the course Mathematische Methoden der Biowissenschaften III. Students can access the course material on the dedicated moodle webpage accessible via the intranet.

The paper Global existence of finite energy weak solutions to the quantum Navier-Stokes equations with non-trivial far-field behavior in collaboration with P. Antonelli and S. Spirito is now available online on Science Direct. The paper will be at free access here until June 22, 2021.

During the fall semester 2020, I participate as long-term visitor in the thematic Program on Mathematical Hydrodynamics at Fields Institute, Canada (remotely due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 crisis).
