About
Research interests
My research is mostly in combinatorial group theory, with particular interest in presentations and higher (homological and homotopical) finiteness properties. So I am very fond of topological, geometric, homological, and combinatorial aspects of groups as well as related topics. Groups that I like include (but are not limited to) matrix groups (algebraic, Lie, (S-)arithmetic...), R. Thompson's groups and their relatives, locally compact groups, and Artin--Tits groups. I am also interested in formal methods in mathematics.
Keywords: Group (co)homology; topological finiteness conditions; combinatorial and geometric group theory; matrix groups; Thompson groups; low-dimensional topology; pro-p groups; formal methods; proof assistants.

Teaching/Lehre/Ensino
I am not teaching in the Sommersemester 2019.
During the WiSe2017/18 and the WiSe2016/17 I was a tutor at Uni Bielefeld for the courses
Lineare Algebra für Physik (
evaluation results -- 24 registered students, 15 frequent, 11 evaluations) and
Gruppentheorie (
evaluation results -- 6 registered students, 4 frequent, 3 evaluations). During my undergraduate studies I was a T.A. at UnB for the following courses:
Cálculo 1, Cálculo 3, Introdução à álgebra linear, Álgebra 2, Álgebra 3 and
Análise 1.
What's on (or was)
Since the WiSe2017/2018 I am a co-organizer of the
Oberseminar Gruppen und Geometrie in Bielefeld.
Together with
Benjamin Brück and
Eduard Schesler I organized the Block Seminar on
Arithmetic groups and rigidity, which took take place in Bielefeld from 21st to 23rd of March 2018. The last Block Seminar,
Constructions of aspherical manifolds and complexes, was organized by our colleagues from Regensburg and took place on the Frauenchiemsee from 23rd to 28th of September 2018.
During 2018 I might have been spotted at the following conferences:
Geometric Group Theory at ∞ in Bielefeld,
Buildings 2018 in Münster,
GGT in Campinas,
Group Theory in Cabo Frio,
Trees, dynamics and locally compact groups in Düsseldorf,
Cohomological and metric properties of groups of homeomorphisms of R in Oberwolfach,
THGT 2018 in Bielefeld,
Spring school on complete reducibility in Bochum.
