Prof. Dr. Dieter Happel

Dieter Happel passed away on 15th August 2012 in a hospital in Chemnitz.
He was born in Frankfurt/Main in 1953 and studied mathematics and physics at the University of Bonn. Then he moved to Bielefeld University and got there his PhD in 1979. He was visiting assistent professor at Brandeis University 1981-82 and habilitated in Bielefeld in 1985. After having been a Heisenberg fellow at Bielefeld University he became full professor at the University of Chemnitz in 1993. He was a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters.
